        Sedimentary Rock Part 2.

29,000 Feet of water during Noah’s Flood?

The reason that we know the mountains were once under water is due to the evidence that we find on the highest mountain in the world! At the very tip top of Mt. Everest, that towers 29,000 feet above sea level, you will find fossilized seashells!

Now what is a seashell doing there? Did Climber Clam Sam decide one day to put on its hiking gear and say, “Hey I’m going to climb Mt. Everest!?” No!

It is true that the mountains of today are very tall, but the flood waters of Noah’s day did not need to be 29,000 feet high to cover the mountains. These massive mountains were made by continental plates moving around after Noah’s flood. The rocks were soft and pliable and under these flood waters when they were pushed up to their majesty heights!

Evolution tries to tell you there was some ancient sea that was once there, in Mt. Everest’s region, that held marine wildlife; the problem with this idea is that you find seashells and marine wildlife fossils on mountains all over the world! Here in this photo, these are seashells at the summit of Mt. Diablo in California!

So next time someone teases you about where all the water came from that would cover the tallest mountain, you have answers that help them us understand that Noah’s Flood did indeed happen!

One Special Feature of Sedimentary Rock:

What causes the rock layers to be soft? We don’t have soft rocks, around do we?

That’s a great question! For rock to be soft it needs to be incredibly hot to the point that it melts!

One good example of melting to mold something is glass.

One thing that melts rocks is a great amount of heat and pressure. We find molten rock in volcanos all around the world! When Noah’s Flood happened that covered the entire face of the earth, the Bible talks about the fountains of the great deep opening. And we all know the inner core of earth is very very hot!

Geysers, like “Old Faithful” In Yellowstone National Park can testify to the immense heat as the water that is spews out is intensely hot at over 400 degrees Fahrenheit!

Great heat melts rocks! Unlike a blender where it is cutting by a blade, the pressures of lots of mud, water, dirt, sand, and rocks all jumbled in the hot depths of the flood and were left pile upon pile, layer after layer, and hardened. They were laid very quickly because some rocks can be seen folded, bent, or sloped meaning they were soft and pliable and hardened that way!

Evolution wants us to believe that these rock layers of the earth were laid down over millions of years and each layer of rock stands for huge gaps of time, when in fact, we have evidence (like the folded rock layers) that tell us they had to have been laid down rapidly to be able to bend in the odd way that you see in this photo!

We have learned that when minerals get hot, they are soft and pliable. When they lithify or harden, you can no longer form them.

Take baking clay. When we buy clay, we can mold and make whatever we want to, but once it is baked in an oven with heat, it hardens and can no longer be changed into another form.

God wants our hearts to be soft and pliable. He wants to mold us and shape us every day and he has a special reason for making us who we are. The Bible talks about God being the potter and us being the clay.

We should always be moldable in His hand and should learn a lesson from rocks.

The Bible talks about a church that wasn’t hot for God, in fact, he said they were lukewarm and that he was going to spew them out of his mouth because it was nasty! Like a glass of lukewarm liquid. God wants us to be hot in the aspect meaning full of zeal and purpose in following Him, and moldable so that our hearts are ready to hear and obey God.
